Although it’s ridiculous to think that the man violating the restraining order would be let go while Lashley and Lana would get arrested, the main man behind-the-scenes loved how everything went down. In fact, he wants this angle to continue beyond the TLC pay-per-view.
I was told that Vince McMahon loved how everything played out on Raw this week. The arrest angle was something that was approved days ago and there were little changes made to that part of the script.
“Vince loves everything about this story,” said a WWE source. “The numbers are above average for these segments so they will do them until people stop caring.”
I was told that McMahon sees this storyline the way people would look over to see a car wreck. The storyline might make you cringe but you will keep watching…at least that is how McMahon feels. He also looks at the numbers for these segments and feels that Lana is generating real heel heat and not “go away” heat. Rusev has been getting praise backstage for the work he’s been doing.
Although the match has not been officially announced, Lashley vs. Rusev is scheduled for the TLC pay-per-view and I’m told this angle will continue after that show. The last I heard on Rusev is that he had not signed a contract but as last week, the feeling was that Rusev was likely going to sign a new deal. As previously noted, the plan is for Rusev to look good at the end of this storyline. People in WWE creative have been doing everything to keep the first TV match between Rusev and Lashley until the pay-per-view. At house shows, they’ve been doing DQ finishes and they swerved fans by not actually doing a match at Starrcade.
