It is now confirmed that Wade Barrett is back full-time with WWE.
Barrett confirmed the news today during an interview with Sports Illustrated. He had been working as a commentator on NXT in recent weeks in place of Mauro Ranallo, who is no longer with the company.
“I hope this lasts for a long time, that’s our intent,” Barrett told SI. “So there is no bad news to share, but never forget, there is always a little bad news up my sleeve.”
Barrett noted in the interview that he left WWE in 2016 because he was burned out and beat up and he knew that he needed to do some projects away from pro wrestling.
Barrett dipped his toe into wrestling again this year when he did commentary for NWA Powerrr and he was open about the possibility of working for WWE again.
His new deal with WWE is for one year with an option to extend the deal.
