WATCH: AJ Styles Wins United States Championship At MSG House Show

WWE had a Supershow at Madison Square Garden on Friday night and it included a United States Title match and nobody saw the ending of this one coming. We can’t remember the last time a WWE title changed hands at a house show, but it happened tonight in New York City.

AJ Styles faced off against Kevin Owens for the United States Championship. Needless to say, Kevin Owens isn’t the New Face Of America any longer.

The Phenomenal One defeated Kevin Owens to gain the WWE United States Championship. Let’s hope there isn’t a deeper reason why they took the title off of Kevin Owens here. It wouldn’t be the first time WWE has had to take a title away from a Superstar when they’ve done something that would find them in the dog house. But from all we’ve heard Kevin Owens is well-liked and has kept his nose clean (aside from making the occasional child cry at ringside, but that comes with the territory of being a fantastic heel).

This show is still ongoing as of this writing so we’ll just have to see if it sticks. But for now, AJ Styles has the United States Championship well ahead of his scheduled match at Battleground.

You can see in the clip below that AJ Styles beat Kevin Owens with a Phenomenal Forearm clean in the middle of the ring. This kind of victory looks pretty solid to us. AJ Styles had to win an Independence Day Battle Royal in order to get a shot at KO’s US Title at Battleground, but it looks like AJ Styles jumped the gun here and captured the title well before July 23rd.

This is a surprising story for sure and we will be on top of it to deliver you more updates as soon as we get them. But for now, it looks like AJ Styles is the New New Face Of America.
