TMZ Sports caught up with Paige and Alberto Del Rio on Tuesday in New York City. Alberto was in town to promote the Combate Americas MMA promotion. The interview was filmed prior to WWE issuing their statement saying that Paige failed their wellness test for an illegal substance, not prescription medication. He will be the President of the promotion in a figurehead role similar to Dana White in UFC. Alberto was asked about his future and if he would work for TNA and he said he would work for them if the money is right.
Alberto was asked about the alleged stabbing incident in San Antonio. There have been many questions on what exactly happened but Alberto and no on has been able to obtain a police report. As of yet, there have been no witness statements in this alleged incident. He said, “It was an incident with a guy who disrespected my girl and I just got involved in a street fight. I got a little bit hurt, but thank God I’m fine right now.” He said that his arm, head and part of his hand were injured. When asked if he called the police, he said that he just doesn’t want to talk about it anymore and he put out the statement for AAA’s Dorian Roldan. He said that “haters” just want to tell a different story and it’s ridiculous for people to make assumptions and it was just an incident with a drunk guy and he got the worst part of it.
Paige said that she said her peace on twitter regarding WWE and she doesn’t want to talk about it right now. Alberto said that her situation is the “same sh–, different day.” Paige was asked about returning to WWE and she wasn’t totally committed on the answer but did say, “yea, I have to.” She said that she’ll be travelling with Alberto for the next 6 or 7 months while she recovers from neck surgery. Alberto said that he was the one that chose to leave WWE because he wasn’t happy and he wasn’t happy there during the last 6 months. Paige said that she loves wrestling (WWE or not) and she wants to stay in it as long as she can. Alberto said that she has to stay there because she has a contract.
