Braun Strowman is out of the Royal Rumble match with Brock Lesnar as he continues to rehab his elbow but he is anxious to get back in the ring. “I’m trying to get back in the swing of things,” Strowman told us this weekend in New York City. “I’m trying to get this elbow fixed up.”
He was coy about when we would see him in the ring again. “You’ll see me when you see me,” Strowman said.
Strowman plays a monster on TV but he’s one of the nicest guys outside of the ring and he’s actually a good athlete outside of the wrestling ring. He said, “I used to play a little bit. No one was as good as my dad… All the men in my family were good at softball and grew up playing.”
“I missed playing a lot. I just don’t have enough time with everything in between. WWE keeps me busy and I enjoy staying busy.”
Braun stays he lift 225 pounds because he doesn’t need to lift 800 to 900 pounds like he used to. He also credits muscle memory for his body still looking good. He tells us that he was the strongest man in North America in 2011.
“I’m just trying to figure out what’s going on,” Strowman said about the Royal Rumble.
There has been so much said about Brock Lesnar’s stiff ring work but you might be surprised to hear that Strowman likes working with him. “That’s one of my things that I enjoy working. He’s one of the guys that will go in there and push me.”
We asked about Roman Reigns. The last we heard was that he’s doing well but there’s no timetable for his return and there are no guarantees that he will ever wrestle again. Strowman’s update sounds promising. “[Roman is] doing really well. I think he’s in Hawaii right now on vacation seeing some of his family so everything is going good.”
He added, “It’s just a day by day thing. I know he’s doing his treatments and stuff at home. When I speak to him, he sounds well and says he feels well. I trust him with everything he’s ever told me.”
Strowman also responded to the age-old question about sneezing in front of Vince McMahon and he talked about his nipple piercings.
