The showdown that no one thought could happen happened in a new commercial for FanDuel that will air during the Super Bowl next month between John Cena and Rob Gronkowski.
There was a slight chance that the two stars could have crossed paths in WWE as Gronkowski first appeared for WWE at WrestleMania 33 in 2017 when he helped Mojo Rawley win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
The former NFL player later hosted WrestleMania 36 and signed with the company, where he became a former 24/7 Champion. In 2020, he asked out of his WWE deal in order to return to the NFL. WWE originally had plans for him to wrestle at SummerSlam that year in Boston, but the COVID-19 pandemic nixed those plans.
As seen below, Cena and Gronk are featured in the new commercial that will air on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
The ad is about who will do the Kick of Destiny this year, as Gronk failed last year and is looking for redemption. Gronk broke into Fanduel’s headquarters, where Cena was having a meeting.
