After an attempt at dethroning Pete Dunne of his WWE United Kingdom Championship, Johnny Gargano once again fell short of winning yet another match. This continues Gargano’s slump, as he has lost on NXT TV to Andrade “Cien” Almas and Fabian Archer in his recent matches. Gargano was interviewed following his loss a few weeks ago to Archer, and this is what he had to say.
“It was supposed to be a fresh start; a fresh start for me. But if you can’t even get started, then where do you go with it? Where do you go? I don’t know. I don’t know what happens now. Okay? Do I even belong here anymore? In here, in here, I know I do. I hear the people. Do you hear them? They believe in me, but, for what? What are they believing in? I don’t know. I don’t know what to do now. I don’t know.”
Gargano was interviewed once again following his loss to Dunne, and he alluded to the fact that just having an incredible match is insufficient at this point in his career.
He added, “I’ve done these [matches], and I’ve been angry, I’ve been sad, I’ve been distraught. Anymore, this happens so often, I just – you don’t feel anything anymore. And that’s how I feel. Nothing. And I want to feel something again. And I gotta find what that is.”
It will be interesting to see if this either leads to a heel turn, or an underdog babyface push in gaining momentum back. He still has unfinished business with his former DIY teammate, Tommaso Ciampa, so this may change the direction of the rivalry between the two.
