WWE has sent out a video to their YouTube channel that features former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens discussing how hard it was for him to leave his family in order to make his return to in-ring action under the banner of the sports entertainment company.
Owens had been preparing for his return and did just that on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Charlotte, NC at the Spectrum Center where it was confirmed that he would challenge WWE Champion Daniel Bryan for the strap at the Fastlane pay-per-view event.
Later in the show, teamed up with Kofi Kingston to defeat the team of Bryan and Erick Rowan in the headliner.
Owens got emotional due to him being at home every day for five months with his family. He was quoted by stating, “I wouldn’t leave my house unless it was for something that was worth it, and of course, WWE is worth it.”
In late December, the WWE hyped the fact that the former Universal Champion as well as Sami Zayn, who has also been sidelined for months, would be making their returns in the near future. He had been out of action to get surgery after suffering knee injuries.
