WWE has experienced significant success in ticket sales in recent years. This past week, TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE, announced that WrestleMania 41 was the most financially successful and highest-grossing event in the company’s history, generating the largest gate for any WWE event ever. This announcement came despite numerous fan complaints regarding the high cost of tickets leading up to the show.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live shared on Tuesday that in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania 41, the cheapest tickets for nosebleed seats were priced at a staggering $800. While this price dropped to $100 on the day of the event itself, the initial cost caused considerable discussion among fans.
Adding to the controversy, a video of Randy Orton interacting with fans went viral. In the clip, Orton expressed his disbelief upon learning that some fans had paid $30,000 for WrestleMania tickets, calling the price “embarrassing.”
At WrestleMania 41, Randy Orton defeated TNA World Heavyweight Champion Joe Hendry. This match occurred after Kevin Owens was reportedly pulled from his scheduled bout against Orton due to an undisclosed injury.
