Michael Cole and Corey Graves were stuck in Saudi Arabia and forced to miss Friday’s SmackDown episode in Buffalo, New York at the KeyBank Center on FOX. This led to WWE having Renee Young, Tom Phillips, and Pat McAfee doing commentary for the show.
Young had an interesting night as she called a women’s tag team match. This contest was set up after Bayley retained her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Nikki Cross.
NXT stars Rhea Ripley and Tegan Nox defeated Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville in quick fashion. Prior to the finish that saw Rose be tapped out to Ripley’s Inverted Shamrock submission move, Nox launched Deville over the commentary table towards Young.
Although Phillips and McAfee were able to avoid being struck, Young wasn’t that lucky. Instead, she ended up taking an accidental left foot to the face from Deville.
This led to Young taking to Twitter where she noted that she is “never doing commentary again.” Obviously, she was joking.
Nox apologized for causing Deville to essentially hit Young with a spinning heel kick. You can see the clip here:
