WATCH: UFC’s Colby Covington wants to become two-sport champion with crossover to WWE

Former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Colby Covington is known for his trash talk in his pro-MMA career. Alongside with his fighting ability, Covington is one of the top contenders in the welterweight division under the UFC banner.

Covington picked up a unanimous decision win over former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler in the headliner of the UFC Newark event that took place last Saturday night on ESPN.

On Monday, Covington talked about his desire to make a crossover to WWE during an interview with Ariel Helwani. For his latest fight, Covington used Kurt Angle’s theme song for his walkout.

After thanking Kurt Angle and Bobby Lashley, who asked Angle for permission to use the song on Covington’s behalf, the UFC star teased that he could make a move to WWE in order to achieve his goal.

“Vince McMahon, I’m gonna see you soon. I’m getting that WWE belt and have this UFC belt, I’m gonna be a two-sport World Champion.”

When pressed as to whether he’s spoken with UFC President Dana White about potentially appearing on WWE TV, Covington noted that he hasn’t talked with White yet. However, he does think they will realize it would be good for business to be able to crossover. Covington noted that since Brock Lesnar did it why can’t he.
