WWE is set to make what is being teased as a “huge,” game-changing announcement today at 3 p.m. Eastern time via a special live stream presentation. While the company has been cryptic about the nature of the announcement, all signs point to the official confirmation that WrestleMania will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2027. The news, which was accidentally revealed earlier this week, is a historic one for the company, as it would mark the first time its flagship event has been held outside of North America.
The speculation began on Wednesday when a Snapchat video advertisement from Turki Al-Sheikh, the Chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, began circulating online. In the video, Al-Sheikh appeared to announce that WrestleMania 43 would be coming to the country. While the premature announcement was reportedly an error and not coordinated with WWE, wrestling media outlets, were quick to confirm that the news was “100% legitimate” and that an official announcement was imminent.
The timing and setting for the official announcement are strategic ones for WWE. It has been reported that the confirmation is expected to come this Friday, with all of the company’s top executives in Las Vegas for the high-profile boxing match between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez, as well as the WWE and AAA Worlds Collide special event. Adding to the anticipation, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque promised a “huge” game-changing announcement for today, and the company has scheduled a live stream for 3 p.m. ET.
The live stream presentation is set to be a star-studded affair, with a number of WWE legends and current superstars announced to be a part of it. The list of names includes Triple H, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Seth Rollins, Logan Paul, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Stephanie Vaquer, and Charlotte Flair.
The announcement has also been tied to recent reports about the ambitious plans for the potential Saudi Arabia WrestleMania. It has been rumored that the Saudi partners are pushing for the “most star-studded show ever,” with names like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin being discussed for potential main event matches. The official announcement today could provide more clarity on those plans.
The live stream will be available on WWE’s official social media channels and the WWE Network.
