Why the Bludgeon Brothers received a name change
WWE likes to switch up names out of the blue. Sometimes it makes sense, but other times you just have to go with it because you’re going to get used to the name change sooner or later anyway.
Many Superstars have received slight name alterations like TJP (TJ Perkins), Ruby Riott (they added a “t”), and the list could on for Superstars who used to have first names like (Alexander) Rusev and (Antonio) Cesaro. Now there are two more people you can add to that like in (Luke) Harper and (Erick) Rowan.
The former Wyatt Family brethren dropped their first names when they became the Bludgeon Brothers. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated that Vince McMahon decided on this name change for Harper and Rowan because he believes the last name by itself will make them come off as more “dominant” heels.
It might be a shaky theory, but it’s one Vince McMahon has used for a while now and if anything Harper and Rowan looks cooler on a t-shirt rather than to include their first names too.
