William Regal has been a core part of the progression with the WWE NXT brand since the creation of the developmental program.
Triple H has shown trust in the former pro wrestler to help train talent at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando Florida as well as serve as a talent scout for the company.
Aside from that, Regal also portrays the general manager of NXT on television.
While WWE has used talent in GM roles in the past, this authority figure is booked differently in NXT as Regal isn’t on television every week and when he does appear, it’s for one or two segments instead of being the top heel on the program.
This is something that Regal spoke about and why he thinks the NXT GM role works during a recent interview with Sportskeeda.
“For me, it’s not really a role because it’s what I do – which makes it very different than whenever I’ve done this role before. Although it’s not exactly what I do, it is in a lot of ways, if that makes any sense. It’s the first time that has probably been… When I played that role anyway, where I am actually a big part of that and, fortunately for me that I am.

If it’s done right, and from the feedback and from what I hear, people seem to think we do it right on the show.”
