Wrestling veteran Tommy Dreamer offered a detailed, empathetic breakdown of the shoulder injury suffered by Liv Morgan on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. On his “Busted Open After Dark” podcast, Dreamer, who has suffered similar injuries, explained the mechanics of what happened and dismissed online conspiracy theories about the incident.
Morgan’s match was stopped in its opening moments after she appeared to suffer a dislocated shoulder during a drop toehold spot. “The woman got hurt. It sucks,” Dreamer stated firmly, pushing back against any suggestion that it was a storyline angle. “From someone who has separated a dislocated shoulder, the moment it happens, it takes the breath out of you. If you could tell right away she rolled out… she knew something was wrong with her body.”
Dreamer then used his own experience to explain how such a seemingly simple move can cause a serious injury. “When she went down, her left leg was still up, almost like in a kneeling position, where her right leg was going flat… as that goes, if you’re falling forward, even at the easiest of imbalance, your shoulder is going to hyperextend,” he analyzed. “She wasn’t trying to stop her fall. She was just trying to go forward. And with that extension, it’s so easy to pop your shoulder and dislocate it.”
Having gone through similar injuries himself, Dreamer warned of the long recovery process ahead for Morgan. “It sucks, and it’s going to be something that happens for the rest of your life,” he said, noting he still has to do specific warm-up exercises for an injury he sustained in 1996. “You just got to continue the rehab, continue strengthening that shoulder, and don’t come back too soon.”
Dreamer concluded with a heartfelt message, encouraging fans to send their support to Morgan and explaining the mental toll an injury takes on a top performer. “If you are a fan of Liv Morgan, like I am a fan of Liv Morgan, prayer, I believe in prayer, and as well as I believe, in sending a positive note to a person, letting them know how their work affected you, or how much you appreciate them and appreciate their work,” he said. “I appreciate Liv. If I had the pencil, Liv would still probably be my champion. I think she’s amazing. I think she’s an amazing performer… Mentally, it’s tough too, because you’re like, ‘Man, I’m on top of the world. What could go wrong?’ And then all of a sudden it goes wrong… we offer nothing but support. And I hope that you all do too for Liv because she needs it, and it’s going to be a long, painful recovery.”
