WWE And Alexa Bliss Are In A Contract Dispute

WWE Superstar Alexa Bliss and the company are currently embroiled in a contract dispute, derailing her highly anticipated return, according to a report by PWInsider. Bliss, who last wrestled at the 2023 Royal Rumble, was initially slated to return on the January 13th, 2025 episode of Raw in San Jose, CA, however these plans were canceled at the last minute. Sources indicate that Bliss is seeking a new contract with increased compensation and perks, while WWE expects her to honor her existing deal, which was extended due to her time away from the ring. Bliss has been on hiatus since the 2023 Royal Rumble, during which time she gave birth to her first daughter and dealt with health issues. She recently announced on social media she was back to her pre-pregnancy weight.

PWInsider reports that Bliss’ representatives contacted WWE just before the scheduled San Jose Raw appearance to initiate contract negotiations. When Bliss’ camp insisted on a new deal before her return, WWE reportedly “played hard-ball,” shelving plans for her return and freezing all creative plans involving the star. The original plan was for her to secretly appear at Raw on Netflix on 1/13 and rejoin the Raw brand. This would explain why the Wyatt Sicks were moved to Smackdown.

The two sides have reportedly remained at an impasse since. The day after her scheduled return, on January 14th, Bliss removed all WWE references from her social media bios, further fueling speculation about her future with the company. WWE sources had previously indicated that Bliss was expected back by the start of WrestleMania season, which traditionally begins with the Royal Rumble.
