WWE announcers are still banned from referring to a move that was popularized by Chris Jericho
It was noted several months ago that WWE has told their announcers that the name of a certain move is not to be said on TV.
It was noted in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the move that is commonly referred to as the Codebreaker still cannot be called by that name. It’s a Double Knee Facebreaker but Jericho popularized it and renamed the Codebreaker in 2007 when Jericho returned to the company after several “Crack The Code” vignettes.
Asuka has been using the move since her days in NXT and she hit it this week on Monday Night Raw when she teamed with Lana against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax.
Ricochet also uses the Codebreaker during matches. Back in June, Jericho said that Ricochet reached out to him to ask for permission to use the move.
