WWE reportedly wanted to present the Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar match at the Survivor Series pay-per-view event as a fight. Dave Meltzer noted in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE officials told the announcers to call the match like it was a fight and unlike anything else on the show.
Meltzer added that WWE felt like today’s fans are familiar enough with MMA to know that fights can end quickly and they wouldn’t feel let down by the quick finish.
As we noted earlier on the site, Goldberg has already confirmed that he would be wrestling in the 2017 Royal Rumble match and agreed to work more dates. It’s been reported that Lesnar will also be wrestling in the match so WWE can do an angle between the two Superstars where it would set up the trilogy match at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida.
