WWE Announces Roman Reigns Is “Out Indefinitely” After Clash In Paris Attack

On tonight’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw in Paris, France, announcer Michael Cole provided a medical update on Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman following the events of the Clash in Paris Premium Live Event. Cole announced that due to the severity of a post-match assault, Reigns has suffered multiple fractured ribs and will be out of action indefinitely.

The on-screen injuries are the direct result of the conclusion of the Clash in Paris event. After Reigns defeated Bronson Reed, he was the victim of a sustained, two-on-one attack by Reed and his Vision stablemate, Bron Breakker. The assault saw Breakker spear Reigns through the commentary table and again in the entranceway, and Reed deliver three of his Tsunami splashes, two of which occurred after Reigns was already strapped to a stretcher.

Michael Cole also provided an update on Paul Heyman, stating that he suffered a larynx contusion. This storyline injury occurred just before the attack on Reigns, when Reigns applied a guillotine choke to Heyman in the middle of the ring. The nature of the injury suggests that upon his return, Heyman may be unable to speak for a period of time.

The on-screen attack and subsequent injury announcement are reportedly the storyline mechanism to write Roman Reigns off of WWE television for several months. He is taking a hiatus from the company to begin filming a major motion picture.

It has been reported by outlets such as Newsweek and The Hollywood Reporter that Reigns, under his real name Joe Anoa’i, has been cast in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie. He is set to portray the iconic and powerful villain Akuma. The film, which is co-produced by Legendary and Capcom, is scheduled for a 2026 release.
