WWE announces the return of Starrcade

WWE confirmed the news about Starrcade that broke on Monday on the Wrestling Observer website.

Starrcade is returning on Sunday, December 1st at 7 pm eastern as a WWE Network special. The event will emanate from the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth, Ga. The non-televised portion of the action will start at 6:30 pm local time.

WWE Superstars already advertised to appear include Universal Champion Seth Rollins, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair and Daniel Bryan.

Starrcade was the signature event for the NWA in the 1980s. In the 90s, one of the most famous events during the WCW era was Starrcade 1997 that was headlined by Hulk Hogan vs. Sting for the World Heavyweight Champion. In 1998, Goldberg’s streak ended in a match against Kevin Nash.

WWE plans on introducing a tiered plan for the WWE Network in early 2020 and one of the things fans will be able to see in an upper-tier plan is live events. The Starrcade show will be somewhat of another test run to see how things go for a live event special.

Tickets for Starrcade will go on sale at on Friday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. ET.
