WWE attempted to buy Japanese promotion for new NXT brand

For quite some time there have been rumors about WWE wanting to start an NXT brand in Japan. 

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that officials WWE is, in fact, planning to start an NXT Japan brand and that they’ve spoken with several promotions in Japan about a potential deal.

WWE has attempted to buy a Japanese promotion in order to have a foundation for NXT Japan. As of now, there’s no word yet on if any of the deals have gone through. One of the promotions that WWE tried to buy Pro Wrestling NOAH, but a deal could not be reached.

There are also rumors of the company trying to hire top Japanese talents to work as trainers and wrestlers for the new brand. A potential WWE Performance Center in Japan could be built as well. 

In fact, there have been rumors that WWE could be making an announcement as soon as this Friday but time will tell.
