WWE Backstage on FS1 drew 49,000 viewers…that is not a typo

The ratings for the official “premiere” episode of WWE Backstage are in and the number is bad…really bad.

The show drew just 49,000 viewers, according to PWInsider. That is not a typo. The show premiered at 11 pm eastern on Fox Sports 1 on Tuesday night and it was expected to see a drop from the first two preview shows but this was obviously not what FS1 was expecting.

Just for a comparison, the first preview show drew 597,000 viewers. That show had a Yankees/Astros ALCS lead-in. The second preview show that aired after last week’s Friday Night SmackDown drew 426,000 viewers.

This will obviously be a huge concern for the folks at FS1 and it will be interesting to see what they will do to try to get fans interested. Typically, WWE studio shows start out strong and decline as the weeks go by so it’s quite possible that the viewership number could drop even further in the coming weeks.
