The Smackdown Tag Team Championship match kicked off the WWE Battleground pay-per-view as The Usos defended against The New Day. Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston wrestled the match and Big E watched from ringside. It was a nice way to start the show because they had a good match and the Philly crowd was into everything. Seriously, this has to be among the top 5 WWE matches of the year.
There was tons of action but late in the match, there was a really cool spot with Xavier attempting to jump on Jey Uso. Jey moved out of the way and Jimmy caught Xavier with a kick to the face and almost got a pin as the crowd chanted “this is awesome.” The finish was Kofi hitting trouble in paradise and then Xavier finally getting the pin on Jimmy Uso after hitting a diving elbow.
