WWE-bound Shinsuke Nakamura stripped of the NJPW Intercontinental title

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that they will be stripping Shinsuke Nakamura of the Intercontinental title. The belief was that he would be dropping the title to Kenny Omega but it looks like the company felt that it was just better to strip Nakamura of the title. Omega will now face a mystery man at the New Beginnings show in Niigata on 2/14. That match will determine the new champion.

Nakamura is still scheduled to finish out his remaining dates with NJPW through the end of this month. After that then he is free to start with WWE.

NJPW has also announced that Okada will defend the IWGP Championship against Goto on 2/11 in Osaka. The Young Bucks will defend their IWGP Tag Team Titles against the team of Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly and Matt Sydal & Richochet in a three-way. Also, Shibata vs. Ishii for the Never Openweight title and The Briscoes & Toru Yano will defend the Never trios titles against Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga & Yujiro Takahashi. For those wondering, Tama Tonga has re-signed with New Japan.
