WWE Bringing in a Former Star for Superstar Spectacle

WWE is returning to India for its first event in the country since 2017 with WWE Superstar Spectacle at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium (Gachibowli Indoor Stadium) on Friday.

The company is bringing in a former star for the special show that won’t be streamed live on the WWE Network or Peacock as it’s exclusive to the India market. The reason for the show is due to their India television partner bringing them in.

So far, three matches have been confirmed for it, including WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens taking on Indus Sher in a non-title match, John Cena teaming with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins against Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci of Imperium are the top two matches, and Natalya challenging Rhea Ripley for the World Women’s Title.

PWInsider reports that former WWE star The Great Khali is expected to be involved in some fashion. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on his role.

Khali was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021 after departing the company in November 2014, where he found success, including winning the World Heavyweight Title.

WWE is bringing him in because he had been one of their biggest India stars in company history alongside Jinder Mahal. Khali hasn’t wrestled since the 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble Match in April 2018 from Saudi Arabia.
