Kofi Kingston has been elevated to one of the top singles stars in WWE after he defeated Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35.
Now, fans are wondering if this means the end for The New Day since WWE has a history of splitting up tag teams and stables, especially when one wrestler breaks away on his own.
Kingston says winning the WWE Championship will not change things for New Day as a group and he plans on staying together with Xavier Woods and Big E.
“I don’t understand that,” Kingston told TMZ Sports after he was asked about a potential split. “The philosophy of The New Day has been to lift your brother up.”
Kingston said the typical thing is for a faction to split but New Day is not a typical faction.
He continued, “For us to break up, that would be like doing the opposite of New Day and just doing the standard fare. From that aspect alone, it just won’t happen. Everything we do, we do it together.”
“The New Day is all about the group, that’s how it’s going to be,” Kingston said.
He added that he wants to be a champion of the people and he’s up for some fantasy matches and he wants a historic and legendary championship run.
Big E will be out of action for the next several weeks so Kingston will only have Xavier Woods by his side. It will be interesting to see what’s in store for this title run.
