WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship
Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Lucha House Party (Kalisto and Lince Dorado)
This match was originally scheduled for the main card but moved today to the Kickoff show. Nakamura and Cesaro retained after Nakamura pinned Kalisto.
WWE Intercontinental Championship – Ladder Match
Jeff Hardy vs. AJ Styles vs. Sami Zayn
Both the real Intercontinental and Zayn’s faux IC title were hanging over the ring during this match. Zayn was the first to make an attempt to set up a ladder in the ring after he took out Hardy and Styles with ladder shots at ringside. Hardy got in the ring and he stopped Zayn from setting up the ladder and then slammed him onto a ladder bridge in the ring. Hardy took a scary bump in the middle of a ladder in the ring as he was attempting to dive on Styles from the second rope.
Styles was the first to climb up the ladder but Hardy met him on the other side of the ladder and they exchanged punches but Styles was able to push Hardy off. Styles made it close to the titles but Hardy got back up on his feet and he pulled Styles off. Zayn got in the ring and he executed an Exploder Suplex on Styles onto a ladder that was sitting in the corner of the ring. Zayn climbed up the ladder but Hardy pulled him off and then tossed him outside. All three men battled at ringside.
Zayn was able to get back in the ring and he climbed the ladder but Styles tossed a mini-ladder and it hit Zayn’s hand and Zayn fell off the ladder. Styles and Hardy battled on top of the ladder but both of them fell off and Styles crashed to the floor outside of the ring. This gave Zayn an opening to climb the ladder but Styles got up and tried to springboard off the top rope but Hardy pushed the ladder into him and in the process, Zayn was knocked off the ladder.
There was a very dangerous looking spot with Hardy being sandwiched in between the ladder when Zayn shoved it into the corner of the ring. Outside of the ring, Styles hit a moonsault into a reverse DDT on Zayn on the floor. Styles took a ladder to the face from Hardy just after Styles set up Zayn on a ladder bridge outside of the ring. Hardy then climbed a ladder that was set up outside of the ring and he did a Swanton Bomb off the top and through Zayn and the ladder on the floor. This was similar to the ladder spot he did when he returned at WrestleMania 33.
Back in the ring, Styles climbed a ladder but Hardy pushed him off. Zayn used handcuffs with one on Hardy’s stretched ear lobe and another on a ladder at ringside so Hardy was unable to get into the ring. Zayn then tried to handcuff Styles to the ring rope but Styles fought back and somehow Zayn and Styles ended up handcuffed to each other. Hardy managed to get in the ring while still handcuffed as Zayn released himself because he had the key. Zayn climbed up and grabbed the titles.
Kayla Braxton interviewed Zayn after the match.
WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Asuka vs. Zelina Vega
Vega’s strategy was to work on Asuka’s left arm throughout the match. Asuka attempted an Asuka Lock twice early in the match but Vega slipped out and she continued to work on the arm.
Vega continued to dominate for several more minutes until Asuka caught her and made her tap out to the Asuka Lock. After the match, Charly Caruso interviewed Asuka, who put over Vega as a firecracker but said that Vega was not ready for her. Asuka tried to shake Vega’s hand but Vega declined and bowed towards Asuka. That was a trap because Vega attacked her so it looks like this feud will continue.
WWE United States Championship
Bobby Lashley vs. Apollo Crews
MVP was at ringside for this match in the corner of Lashley and Ricochet was at ringside in the corner of Crews. Lashley dominated for the first few minutes until Crews was finally able to hit a flurry of offense. There was a close near fall after Crews went for a pin attempt after hitting a standing moonsault. Lashley was able to fight back and he hit a super plex off the top rope but Crews managed to kick out of the pin attempt.
Crews turned things around and he managed to hit a frog splash off the top but Lashley kicked out. Lashley recovered and he won the match by making Crews tap out to the Hurt Lock.
WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
The Street Profits vs. Andrade and Angel Garza
Several minutes into the match, Garza executed a Spanish Fly off the top on to Montez Ford and into a pin attempt that almost ended the match. At one point, Ford went for a tag but Andrade pulled Angelo Dawkins off the ring apron. Andrade took out Dawkins at ringside and then continued the offense on Ford.
Dawkins finally tagged in about a minute later and he pinned Andrade after a powerbomb. The finish looked botched because Andrade kicked out. Dawkins seemed confused as well.
WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Bayley vs. Asuka
Bayley wanted to win via forfeit since Nikki Cross was not cleared but Asuka walked out and she took Cross’ place and the SmackDown Women’s Title was on the line.
This was a short match. The action spilled to ringside after a couple of minutes but the match was called off because Bayley attacked Asuka with a chair.
Sahsa Banks, still wearing a neck brace, appeared and she nailed Bayley in the back with a chair. Bayley shoved her off and then she was about to use a chair on her but Banks fought back and she nailed Bayley with several kendo stick shots. Banks was about to hit Bayley with a chair but Bayley slid out of the ring.
WWE Championship – Ambulance Match
Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton
The only way to win this match is for one man to put his opponent in the ambulance and both door must be closed. The ambulance was parked next to the stage area.
McIntyre got in the first bit of offense to start the match but a minute later Orton hit a draping DDT off the second rope. Orton was about to hit the punt kick but Big Show appeared and he held Orton’s leg and then he pulled him out of the ring so he could chokeslam him through the announcer’s table.
McIntyre carried Orton to the area where the ambulance was but first, he used a chair as a weapon but Orton fought back with a crutch and he used a chair as a weapon. They brawled around different parts of the ambulance, including the driver’s side door area. At one point, McIntyre tried for the Claymore but he ended up kicking the door off as Orton moved out of the way.
The brawl moved to the backstage area and Christian appeared to attack Orton for what he did to him back in July. The brawl then moved back to the ambulance area. McIntyre was going to do something to Orton on the top of the ambulance but Orton countered and he slammed the back of McIntyre’s head on the windshield. After the windshield spot, they made their way up to the top of the ambulance as the camera showed the cuts on McIntyre’s back. McIntyre ended up hanging off the top of the ambulance but he fell off as Orton stomped on his hands. Out of nowhere, Shawn Michaels appeared to hit Orton with a superkick. Michaels then tossed Orton off the ambulance.
McIntyre picked up Orton to put him in the ambulance but Orton countered into an RKO on the floor. Orton put McIntyre into the back of the ambulance and he was about to shut the doors but McIntyre fought his way out and he hit Orton with the Claymore. McIntyre put Orton in the ambulance and he could have won the match but he decided that he wanted to punt Orton in the head. McIntyre hit a running punt kick and then closed the doors to retain the title.
Ric Flair drove the ambulance with Orton in the back.
WWE Universal Championship
Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso
Reigns wrestled without a shirt, perhaps for the first time on the main roster. Reigns plans on changing his music at some point when the time is right.
Uso could be heard saying that things didn’t have to go down this way as they locked up to start the match. Reigns dominated the opening minutes of this match as the announcers said that Uso was in over his head. Just as they said that, Uso hit a flurry of offense including a Samoan Drop and a near fall. Uso charged at Reigns but he was hit with the Superman punch. Uso fell out to ringside so Reigns went out and Usos hit him with some punches but Reigns knocked him down with an uppercut.
Back in the ring, Reigns could be heard telling Uso to just take a payday and avoid the ass whooping. Reigns hit him with a headbutt and several right hands. Uso tried to fight back with a chop but Reigns hit him with another uppercut. Uso hit another flurry of punches and then he pushed Reigns into the corner post and then he followed up by clotheslining Reigns out of the ring and a tope through the ropes. Back in the ring, Uso hit a kick and then he followed up with another tope dive through the ropes onto Reigns at ringside. Back in the ring, Uso hit a crossbody and he almost pinned him. Uso hit a kick to the face and then almost pinned Reigns again. Reigns ran at Uso and hit him with a running leg drop and into a pin attempt.
Reigns went for a spear but Uso moved and he rolled him up for a near fall. Uso hit a superkick and then a splash off the top but Reigns kicked out of the pin attempt. Uso was holding his groin area for some reason and the replay revealed that Reigns hit Uso with a low blow during the kick out. Reigns finally hit the spear but there was no pin attempt. Reigns told Uso to acknowledge him as the Tribal Chief but Uso refused so Reigns hit him with another spear. Reigns then rained down with punches as the referee told him to back off. Again, Reigns asked for acknowledgment but Uso refused so Reigns hit him again several times with forearms and punches. Uso still refused so Reigns hit again with several more punches to the back of the head. Jimmy Uso limped down to the ring with a towel and said that he would throw it into the ring but Jey told him not to. Jey told him again not to throw in the towel. Roman went crazy again with punches and Jimmy threw in the towel. Jimmy acknowledged that Reigns is the Tribal Chief as Reigns was announced as the winner.
