WWE has confirmed when Rey Mysterio will be returning as a full-time Superstar. As noted on WWE.com, he will be back for Smackdown 1000 on October 16, which is a week from Tuesday.
The former World Heavyweight Champion spent most of his time on the brand since signing with WWE in 2002. WWE did not say if he will be wrestling on the show but Dave Meltzer reported that the plan is for him to have a match.
The Smackdown 1000 appearance does not necessarily mean that he will stay there because, at this point, WWE has yet to decide on whether to slot him on the blue brand or on Monday Night Raw.
Other names scheduled to return include Evolution (featuring the return of Batista and Ric Flair), The Undertaker, Edge, Michelle McCool, Teddy Long, Vickie Guerrero and more names to be announced soon.
It was reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE was attempting to get The Rock for an appearance on the show and we reported exclusively here on WrestlingNews.co that WWE was hoping to get John Cena on the show.
Smackdown 1000 will take place on October 16 from the Capitol One Arena in Washington, DC.
