Johnny Gargano pulled from NXT TakeOver?

Austin Theory took to Twitter on Tuesday night to note that WWE NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano was out of his scheduled match against Kushida at the upcoming NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day special.

Because this was announced by Theory and the WWE NXT Twitter account reacted to it by noting, “#JohnnyTakeover out of #NXTTakeover???” there was a lot of speculation about whether this was a storyline angle.

WWE has updated its preview article for tonight’s episode of NXT and confirmed that Gargano is out of action. WWE also confirmed that Theory would indeed be wrestling Kushida on Wednesday’s episode of NXT. The company has yet to disclose the exact reason for Gargano not working this scheduled match.

WWE wrote, “With Gargano out of action, what will this mean for NXT Takeover and the future of the North American Championship?”

Thus, there’s a lot of questions regarding how WWE will handle this. WWE could just nix the match and reschedule it for a later date or Kushida could be getting a new opponent at this special. WWE will likely make an announcement on NXT TV tonight.

Gargano vs. Kushida had been announced on last week’s episode of NXT.
