WWE has confirmed that Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker would be appearing on the 1/9 edition of Monday Night Raw. As we noted on Friday night, there was localized Facebook ad circulating on social media during the last couple of days but there were some questions on whether it was legit but WWE has confirmed that Taker and HBK will be appearing on Raw.
Michaels’ “The Resurrection of Gavin Stone” film is set to be released in January and WWE is backing it so that might be one reason why he will be appearing. It’s expected that something will be set up for the Royal Rumble in San Antonio, which happens to be Michaels’ hometown.
The Undertaker will have a role in the Royal Rumble, perhaps in the Rumble match itself. If John Cena wins the WWE Championship and Taker wins the Rumble then he would go on to challenge Cena for the title at WrestleMania. As noted before, Cena vs. Taker is the likely main event for Mania. Dave Meltzer reported this week that they are also considering Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker for Mania but the Cena/Taker match is more likely.
Shawn Michaels has said repeatedly that he does not want to wrestle another match. If he’s not going to wrestle then I can see them setting up something for him where he is a referee or he can be in someone’s corner during one of the Rumble matches. Michaels will be doing local media in San Antonio to help boost ticket sales.
