WWE considered splitting up a top tag team during the Draft

PWInsider is reporting that there were several WWE Draft ideas that were scheduled to happen but plans changed late in the game.

The original plan for Friday night on SmackDown was to announce Bobby Lashley as the number 1 draft pick for Monday Night Raw. The idea behind that was that fans would be left wondering what the fate would be for WWE Champion Big E and they wouldn’t find out until Monday. Also, fans were supposed to wonder if he would be reunited with The New Day since it was announced that Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston would be moving back to SmackDown. Plans changed and Big E replaced Lashley as the top draft pick for Raw last Friday.

Another idea that was seriously considered was to split up The Street Profits. The idea was to have Montez Ford and Bianca Belair move to Raw and Angelo Dawkins would stay on SmackDwon. So essentially, in addition to breaking up the team, they would have had real-life couple Ford and Belair on opposite brands.

PWInsider reports that the talk of splitting them up lessened over the course of the week and then it was decided to have T-Bar and Mace split up as a team.

WrestlingNews.co heard talk of having Ford and Dawkins split up around the time when they did the “who poisoned Montez Ford” storyline on Raw last year. There are people in the company who believe that Ford can be a big star as a singles wrestler.
