WWE Considering Holding Two WrestleMania Events In One Year

There have been internal discussions within WWE about holding two WrestleMania events in a single year, with one of the shows taking place in Saudi Arabia in 2027. The potential move would be a historic one for the company, marking the first time the event has been held outside of North America. The plan is reportedly being driven by the Saudi partners, who are putting up a “ridiculous amount of money” to make the event the “most star-studded show ever.”

In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the developing situation. He noted that one of the ideas being floated is to have two WrestleMania events in 2027. “I presume it’s the only WrestleMania of that year, but when I first heard one of the ideas was to do a two WrestleMania year one year, so that way it keeps the American fans not upset about Saudi Arabia,” Meltzer said. He added that he believes the public outrage over WWE’s partnership with Saudi Arabia has lessened in recent years, which may make a single, international WrestleMania more acceptable to the fanbase.

“This (WrestleMania hosted in Saudi Arabia) is Turki Alalshikh, and they’re putting up an incredible amount of money. A ridiculous amount of money,” Meltzer stated. “The idea is to present the most star-studded show ever, by far. Everyone, anyone, money is no object. Any name you can imagine obviously they’re going to be after.”

As previously noted, the specific 2027 date is also a key part of the plan, as it marks the 300th anniversary of the founding of the First Saudi State. Meltzer said, “The deal was done by August 6th, because that was the first day I was told there would be a WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia for sure.”

The possibility of a WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia would be the biggest development yet in the partnership between WWE and the Kingdom. Since 2018, WWE has held multiple premium live events in Saudi Arabia each year as part of a long-term agreement.
