The United States title match aired during the Kickoff show. Michael Cole, Renee Young and Corey Graves called the action at ringside.

Kickoff Show

United States Championship
Shinsuke Nakamura (Champion) vs. Rusev

Late in the match, Rusev locked in the Accolade but Nakamura was able to get out of it. He hit Rusev with his a low blow and then finished him off with the Kinshasa. Nakamura is still U.S. Champion.

Main Card

Hulk Hogan, the host of Crown Jewel, kicked off the show and he did a generic promo thanking the Hulkamaniacs and the WWE Universe. He did not put over the Saudi government and did not say the words “Saudi Arabia.”

WWE World Cup first round
Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton

Pretty good match. Mysterio was able to pin Orton with a roll-up so he advances. Orton attacked Mysterio after the match. The assault continued at ringside. Orton slammed Mysterio face first on the Arabic announce desk. So the story here is that Mysterio will be at a huge disadvantage for the rest of the tournament. Michael Cole described Mysterio’s victory as a “major upset.”

WWE World Cup first round
Jeff Hardy vs. The Miz

Miz advanced. He reversed a Twist of Fate attempt and turned it into the Skull Crushing Finale. Miz will face Mysterio in the next round. This was a standard TV match.

WWE World Cup first round
Seth Rollins vs. Bobby Lashley

Rollins advanced in the tournament. Another standard TV match. Lashley dominated but Rollins got the pin after the curb stomp.

Byron Saxton interviewed Kurt Angle backstage.

WWE World Cup first round
Kurt Angle vs. Dolph Ziggler

This was Kurt’s first singles match in WWE in 12 years. This is the best he’s looked since returning to WWE last year. Ziggler won the match after breaking out of the ankle lock and hitting the zig zag.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship
The Bar (Champions) vs. The New Day

The New Day were brought to the ring on a “magic carpet.” The Bar were accompanied by The Big Show. Xavier Woods was at ringside. Big E was about to execute the big ending on Sheamus but a KO punch from Big Show allowed Sheamus to hit the brogue kick and get the win for his team.

WWE World Cup semifinal
The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio

These guys worked hard while some people in the audience casually walked around instead of watching the match. One guy was talking on the phone. Most of the crowd was into everything and it was a pretty good match. Late in the match, Mysterio hit the 619 and then did a frog splash but Miz got the knees up and then wrapped up Mysterio for the pin. Miz advanced to the finals.

WWE World Cup semifinal
Seth Rollins vs. Dolph Ziggler

This was a very good match with tons of counters and near falls. Ziggler won thanks to McIntyre shoving Rollins off the top rope. Ziggler kicked Rollins on his “bad” ankle. Ziggler will face The Miz in the finals. Byron Saxton interviewed Ziggler on the entrance way. Ziggler said nobody believed in him and nobody in the WWE Universe gave a damn about him and next time he goes back in the ring he will be holding the World Cup trophy.

WWE Championship
AJ Styles (Champion) vs. Samoa Joe

This was a good back and forth match. Styles won after hitting the Phenomenal Forearm. The announcers pointed out that Styles will be champion for one year by next week.

WWE Universal Championship
Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman

This was a quick match and Lesnar dominated. Strowman got less than 15 seconds of offense. The match started with Baron Corbin hitting Strowman with the Universal title in the back of the head. Strowman kicked out of several F5’s but was finally pinned on the 5th one. Lesnar is the new champ.

World Cup Finals
Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz

So this was weird. The Miz “injured” his leg and the referee was about to declare Ziggler as the winner due to forfeit. Shane McMahon refused and said he would be replacing Miz. McMahon got in about 5 minutes of offense and then hit the coast-to-coast dropkick and then pinned Ziggler to win the World Cup. Seriously. The announcers wondered how any of this was fair. McMahon ran around and celebrated at ringside.

D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels and Triple H) vs. The Brothers of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane)

This was a long match that went over 30 minutes. Triple H was injured early when he tumbled over the top rope. He could not use his right arm for the rest of the match. There was a table spot at ringside and the action eventually returned to the ring. The finish was Michaels hitting the superkick on Kane. That was followed up by the Pedigree from Triple H. DX won the match.
