WWE cut time from Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam after singles match went long

Liv Morgan defended her WWE SmackDown Women’s Title against Ronda Rousey at Saturday’s SummerSlam event. This match was booked after Morgan won the Money In The Bank match and then cashed her briefcase on Rousey that same night to become champion.

Their SummerSlam was kept short as it only lasted about five minutes before ending in controversy as Rousey had Morgan in the armbar. When Morgan pinned Rousey’s shoulders down, Rousey made Morgan tap out right before the referee counted to three.

The referee ruled that Morgan won the match, which set up Rousey’s heel turn as she attacked Morgan and the referee after the match.

Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline.com noted on Twitter that the match time had to be cut due to Logan Paul vs. the Miz being a longer match.

“That match had a lot of time cut because Miz and Logan went long. HOW ABOUT WE CUT SOME VIDEO PACKAGES INSTEAD OF TIME OFF MATCHES?”

It looks like WWE is building towards a rematch between Rousey and Morgan at the Clash at the Castle event on September 3rd.
