You may have noticed that there’s been a ton of content on YouTube that hasn’t been removed by WWE. Earlier this year there were tons of takedown requests but now there seems to be more wrestling content on YouTube than ever. You would think that being able to see some much content on YouTube would hurt WWE network subscriptions and renewals. WWE has made a strategic decision to leave the videos up. WWE’s Vince President of Digital and Print Rob Bernstein told the Digital Sports Fan Engagement Conference that they were not going after blocking archived YouTube videos of their copyrighted content because they believe it helps the company and helps get people hooked on the product.
He said that he believes that in the long term it would be more beneficial and fans that get exposed to their product in that way are likely to spend money on the product. There are still things that they do go after if it’s something that they don’t want up because it makes the company look bad.
