WWE Discussed Booking A Double Turn At WrestleMania 42

WWE has discussed the possibility of booking a double turn in the United States Championship match between Sami Zayn and Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42, according to BodySlam+.

The discussion stems from a shift in crowd reactions over recent weeks. Zayn, who is positioned as a babyface, has been drawing an increasing level of boos, while Williams, who is a heel, has been receiving a growing babyface reaction from audiences. The report notes that WWE had already been considering turning Williams’ babyface over the past couple of months, given how quickly he has gotten over since his call-up to the main roster from NXT earlier this year.

The scenario is not unprecedented in WWE history, with the most famous example being Bret Hart and Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 in 1997. That bout was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year.

The news comes as WrestleMania 42 ticket sales continue to lag, with current figures running approximately 19% behind where they stood at this point last year. The show takes place April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with Williams challenging Zayn for the United States Championship on night two.
