As many of you saw at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Alexa Bliss defended the Smackdown Women’s Championship against Naomi. Going into this match, Naomi cut promos talking about her motivation for winning this match was going into her hometown (Orlando) as champion at WrestleMania.
Naomi defeated Bliss to win the Smackdown Women’s Championship for the first time after hitting a springboard moonsault. Renee Young did an in-ring interview with her after the match as fans chanted “you deserve it.” She was legitimately choked up and crying from because of the fan reaction. She told Renee that she envisioned this moment for many years and she is taking the title home to Orlando at WrestleMania.
It’s not clear yet who she will be defending the title against at Mania but considering that most of the card has already been locked in and they like to fit in all of the talent on the show, my guess is that we’ll see a multi-woman match that involves Bliss, Mickie James, and Becky Lynch.
