As noted earlier, Johnny Gargano is officially a free agent and he has opened a store on Pro Wrestling Tees. Kyle O'Reilly also finished up with NXT this week but people in WWE don't believe that they will be gone for long.
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that both men are having children in early 2022 and while neither have signed new deals, WWE is under the impression that they are just taking time off.
Meltzer stated that the indication given on Gargano is that he's likely going to wait on his wife Candice to give birth in February before he does anything and that those close to him have said that his next move in wrestling is a difficult decision after being given a strong offer to stay.
Meltzer said that those in NXT are under the impression that both Gargano and O'Reilly will be back but it's noteworthy that both men didn't sign new deals and they would have been given the time off even if they re-signed. Bryan Danielson was in the same position earlier this year as he chose not to sign a new deal so he could keep his options open.
After NXT 2.0 went off the air on Tuesday, Gargano and O'Reilly stuck around ringside after the show and it was clear that Gargano was the most emotional one of the two.
WWE left things open for both men to come back as O'Reilly would have a feud in place with Von Wagner if he returns and Gargano would have a feud ready with Grayson Waller.
