WWE Extreme Rules results: The ring breaks during Finn Balor vs. Roman Reigns title match

In the main event of WWE Extreme Rules, Roman Reigns put his Universal Championship on the line against “The Demon” Finn Balor in an Extreme Rules match. Earlier in the show, Paul Heyman was seen backstage on his phone and it was implied that he might have been talking with Brock Lesnar.

They went back and forth on offense until Reigns tried his first pin attempt after hitting a Samoan Drop. Reigns went for a kendo stick but Balor grabbed multiple sticks that were taped together and he used them to beat on Reigns. Balor took over with a flurry of offense outside of the ring.

Balor went to get a table but Reigns hit him with a flying clothesline. Fans booed with Reigns said that there would be no tables in the match. Reigns then grabbed a steel chair and he jabbed Balor in the gut several times. Reigns went for a chairshot to the back but Balor countered into a double stomp to the gut and then driving Reigns into the steps and barricade. The fans popped when Balor pulled a table from under the ring but Reigns hit the drive-by into the ring post.

Reigns then tossed Balor over the barricade and the match continued in the crowd. Reigns put his mask on to stay safe from the fans around him. They fought around the set for the Kickoff show and Balor dove with a crossbody off the Kickoff show glass table and onto Reigns that sent them crashing through a wood table. Back in the ring, Balor brought a table in but Reigns caught him and chokeslammed him through a table.

Punk hit a Superman punch but Balor kicked out of the pin attempt.  Reigns tried a spear but Balor countered into the sling blade but Reigns finally hit the spear. Balor kicked out while hitting a low blow. Balor hit the coup de grace but The Usos pulled him out of the ring before the 3 count. There’s no DQ so the attack from The Usos was legal. The Usos tried to put Balor through a table but he fought back and took them both out. Balor slammed Jey through the announcer’s table but Reigns then speared Balor through the barricade.

A heartbeat sound played and The Demon got a second life. Balor hit Reigns with several chairshots and a dropkick that sent Reigns through the table. Balor brought Reigns into the ring. Balor went for the coup de grace but the top rope broke and Balor fell into the ring. Reigns hit the spear and then pinned Balor to retain his title
