WWE Fastlane: Daniel Bryan retains WWE Championship in Triple Threat Match

The WWE Championship match between Daniel Bryan and Kevin Owens kicked off the third hour for this year’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view. The story going into this match is that Kofi Kingston was originally scheduled to get the title match with Bryan but Vince McMahon replaced him with Owens. At Fastlane, McMahon teased that Kingston would get added to the title match but it turned out Kingston would face (and lose to) Cesaro and Sheamus in a handicap match.

Before this title match got started, it was announced that Mustafa Ali would be added to the match so it would be a Triple Threat Match. The original plan was for Bryan to face Ali at Fastlane but Ali was sidelined with a concussion before the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view so plans changed.

This was a very good match with tons of crazy moves including a 450 splash from Ali to Bryan on the ring apron part of the ring. Erick Rowan was also heavily involved in the match at ringside. The finish was Ali going for a move off the top rope but Bryan caught him with the running knee. Rowan attacked Ali after the match.
