WWE files trademark for “Bloody Brutes”

WWE has filed for another trademark. The company filed for “Bloody Brutes” on May 12th under the entertainment services classification with The United States Patent and Trademark Office. Here is the description:

“Mark For: BLOODY BRUTES™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by professional wrestlers and entertainers rendered and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

As of this writing, it’s unclear who it will be for. It’s possible that the group of Sheamus, Ridge Holland, and Butch could be referred to as the ‘Bloody Brutes’ moving forward.

However, it is interesting that WWE even filed for the term considering how Vince McMahon is strictly against the intentional use of blood on-screen with a few exceptions. Prior to leaving WWE, Bryan Danielson famously told Vince McMahon that he wanted to be able to bleed again.

WWE has criticized AEW for ‘gory self-mutilation’ earlier this year, a reference to the women’s Street Fight on the New Year’s Eve edition of Rampage.
