WWE files trademark for LA Knight’s new ring name

WWE has locked down the trademark rights to LA Knight’s new ring name, Max Dupri, now that he’s on the main roster.

The company filed for the term on May 19th under the entertainment services classification with The United States Patent and Trademark Office. Here is the description:

“Mark For: MAX DUPRI™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

Dupri made his debut last week on WWE Friday Night SmackDown in a backstage segment with Adam Pearce where he said that he was hired by Sonya Deville and he is bringing his stable called the Maximum Male Models. Pearce said he wasn’t sure about Dupri being on the brand, but Dupri assured him that he has a signed contract.

Leading up to this, Dupri had been working dark segments where he introduced Mace and Mansoor. Prior to the name change, his stable was called Knight Model Management.

As of this writing, it’s unclear whether Mace and Mansoor will be with him on SmackDown or if the company gets different wrestlers to put with Dupri.
