Following WWE’s official announcement of its new WrestlePalooza premium live event, new details are out regarding the trademark for the name and its connection to the independent wrestling promotion, F1RST Wrestling.
WWE’s ‘WrestlePalooza’ Trademark And F1RST Wrestling
According to a report from Fightful Select, F1RST Wrestling, which had previously used and held a trademark for the “WrestlePalooza” name for its own events, has now abandoned its use of the name. A memo was reportedly sent out to F1RST Wrestling staff on August 11.
The memo informed the staff that the promotion is “FULL STOP on all things WRESTLEPALOOZA.” This move cleared the path for WWE to acquire and use the name for its new premium live event.
A New WWE Trademark For Merchandise
On Wednesday, August 20, WWE officially filed a new trademark for the “WrestlePalooza” name. The filing is for a wide range of merchandise, indicating the company has significant plans for the new event brand. The trademark filing covers clothing such as shirts and jackets, as well as a vast array of toys, including action figures, wrestling rings, playsets, board games, and collectible championship belts.
The show, which takes place on September 20 from Indianapolis, will be the first WWE premium live event to air on ESPN’s new streaming service. It is expected to be headlined by a singles match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar, and an Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre.
