WWE has been granted trademark rights to the ring name of former star

On May 4th, WWE was granted the trademark rights to the ring name of Mike Kanellis.

Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis were released by WWE in April 2020. The public reason the mass talent releases came in the form of budget cuts due to the economic impact due to the coronavirus. They returned to Ring of Honor last year.

WWE first filed for this ring name on August 10, 2018 then it was published for opposition on March 19, 2019 and then earlier this month, they got the rights.

Thus, it took WWE three years to get it. Here is the description:

G & S: Entertainment services, namely, professional wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and recorded for the purpose of distribution through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing entertainment information in the field of wrestling news and wrestling information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing and staging events with wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the field of sports entertainment; online journals, namely, blogs, in the fields of sports entertainment.
