WWE Had Big Plans for Matt Riddle and Drew McIntyre With McRiddle Merchandise

Before Matt Riddle was released among several other names as part of mass WWE talent releases that hit the main roster and NXT hard, WWE had paired Riddle with Drew McIntyre as a tag team on Raw.

Riddle had an incident at JFK Airport on September 9, days before his release, where he accused a Port Authority police officer of sexual assault. There is an ongoing investigation into the matter. Footage of it was released that shows an apparent Riddle drunk at the airport while waiting on his flight, which you can see here.

WrestleVotes reported today that WWE had significant plans for Riddle and McIntyre on the red brand, with various merchandise items made with an interesting name.

“Prior to his departure from the company, I’m told there were significant plans for a Matt Riddle / Drew McIntyre tag team. So much so, various merchandise items were designed with the team name……. “McRiddle.” This is not a joke.”

Riddle reportedly has a lot of interest from other wrestling promotions and even MMA companies about signing him, but he will have to wait out his 90-day non-compete before signing with anyone.
