WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi addressed the passionate, fiery monologue he delivered on last week’s podcast regarding his son Jey Uso’s booking, offering an apology to fans who may have been taken aback by his emotional state. Speaking on the latest “Rikishi Fatu Off The Top,” he explained that his intense words came from the heart of a father, not just a wrestling analyst.
Last week, Rikishi went “viral,” as his co-host put it, after a show where he heavily criticized WWE creative for Jey Uso’s short 51-day World Heavyweight Championship reign, suggesting the writers should be fired. At the start of this week’s show, he clarified his emotional state.
“I said what I said, you know, and that’s that. So I’d like for us to move on,” he began, before offering his explanation. “I’m going to apologize to the fans, because, you know, you never see me like that. But you know what the apology is this that you were listening and looking at a man, not the professional wrestler. You were looking and listening to a father, not the professional wrestler.”
He continued, explaining that his family connection makes it impossible for him to be completely objective. “You know I have feelings too. You know my family has feelings too. You know, just like your family, just like everybody else out there, everybody has feelings,” he said. “But the difference is I’m not scared to talk about it.”
“So if you took my words in any other way, okay, I’m man enough to apologize. But I’m not gonna apologize for me being a father and being able to love and stand on business for my family. And that’s that,” he concluded.
