WWE Hall Of Famer Is Bigger Now Than 20 Years Ago After Putting On A Ton Of Muscle

WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW star Billy Gunn has recently been the subject of significant fan discussion due to his impressive physical condition. Recent photos show the 62-year-old veteran displaying a physique that many argue is “bigger than ever,” rivaling or even surpassing the look he sported during his “Mr. Ass” peak in the Attitude Era.

This level of conditioning is not a new development for Gunn but rather a continuation of his intense dedication to fitness, which has included competing in bodybuilding competitions in recent years. While not currently training for a specific competition, Gunn’s physique is the result of an evolved and highly disciplined training and nutrition regimen, which he detailed in an interview with Muscle & Fitness.

How Billy Gunn Trains at 62

Gunn, who just turned 62 on November 1, 2025, explained that his training has become much more intelligent than it was in his youth. While he once focused on lifting heavy weights and “jacking weight,” his modern routine prioritizes mobility, warming up, and strengthening the smaller, stabilizing muscles to protect his joints after a long career.

He noted that he structures his training around his AEW travel schedule. For example, he avoids training legs on Wednesdays (TV taping days) so he is not “wiped out” for the show, opting to train arms instead. “I don’t just go in and starting jacking weight,” Gunn said. “Doing the small things like that make a difference because it’s letting your body know that you’re about to put in work”.

Nutrition and Recovery

Gunn also credits his diet for his ability to stay in peak shape, something he admitted he ignored when he was younger. “I didn’t realize how important food was until a couple of years ago because I had good genetics,” he stated. He now pre-makes his meals and takes them on the road for TV tapings. He also places a high priority on recovery, getting regular massage sessions and stretching to ensure his body is ready to perform in the ring.

A Hall of Fame Career

Billy Gunn’s longevity is remarkable in an industry known for its physical toll. He is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, first inducted in 2019 as a member of D-Generation X and again in 2024 as part of The New Age Outlaws with “Road Dogg” Jesse James.

During his celebrated WWE career, Gunn established himself as one of the most decorated tag team wrestlers in history, capturing the WWE Tag Team Championship 11 times. He also found singles success, winning the 1999 King of the Ring tournament and holding the Intercontinental Championship.

Current AEW Status

Today, Gunn remains an active performer on All Elite Wrestling’s weekly television and he works behind the scenes for the company. His continued impressive physique and active role have led many fans to comment that he still looks ready for one more World Title run.
