WWE Hall of Famer Booker T recently shared details from a tag team ranking segment he did with D-Von Dudley, where he controversially gave The Dudley Boyz a grade of “a B+ at best” and argued they wouldn’t be remembered without their classic rivalries against The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian.
Recounting the segment on his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T explained his reasoning directly to his listeners as he did to D-Von. “The Dudley’s ECW career. I say, Look, man, that was a regional company. Those guys working at a bingo hall, really, to be, let’s just be honest, you got to wipe that part of your careers out. All right, don’t even, you can’t even include it,” Booker T began his critique.
He then addressed their time in Japan. “[They] did some good work in Japan. All right, but who remembers that here in the States? Do you remember any Japanese matches?” he questioned, suggesting their international work had minimal impact on their overall legacy for the U.S. audience.
His most pointed critique centered on their iconic run in WWE. “WWE, yeah, you would not remember the Dudleys if it wasn’t for the Hardys and Edge & Christian,” Booker T declared. “You we may not ever have heard of the Dudleys if it wasn’t for those guys, right? Am I right or wrong?” Co-host Brad Gilmore conceded, “In ways, yes, they all made each other in WWE.”
Based on this assessment, Booker T delivered his final grade for the legendary, multi-time champions. “So my thing is, I said I give those guys a B+ at best,” he revealed. He contrasted this with other teams he holds in higher esteem, such as The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and The Midnight Express, whom he places in the A-tier.
