WWE Hall of Famer Reveals The Truth Behind Ron Killings Being Rehired By WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long firmly believes that R-Truth’s recent “release” from WWE was a legitimate business decision and that the company’s attempt to frame it as a storyline after his return at Money in the Bank was a failed cover-up. Speaking on his “Road Trip After Hours” podcast, Long dismissed the idea that the entire angle was planned from the start.

When host Mac Davis asked Long for his take on whether the situation was a “work or shoot,” Long didn’t hesitate. “It’s a shoot,” he declared. “Jesus Christ. What does it take for these people?”

Davis agreed, sharing his perspective on the fan reaction. “The sad part is… WWE came in and they tried to make it sound like it was a work. They tried to sell the fans, this is a work,” Davis said. “And every fan out there, I don’t care if you are young or old, everybody, pretty much, went, ‘nah. That’s not the case. This guy got fired. You screwed up, and now you’re trying to cover up the stench of a screw up by saying, ‘Oh no, that was planned the whole time.’ I don’t believe that for a second.”

Teddy Long simply concluded on the matter, “To me, it’s old news,” indicating he sees the situation as a clear-cut case of the company making a business decision and then pivoting due to fan backlash, rather than a clever, pre-planned storyline as some have suggested.

Long and Ron Killings are friends and Long stated last week, before Killings was re-hired, that he had spoken to Killings and from what he was told, Killings was in a good place. There were reports at the time about different wrestling promotions, including TNA, being interested in singing him. Obviously, Killings won’t be going anywhere for the time being as he’s set for what is believed to be his final run with WWE. Aside from Long’s comments, it has been confirmed by multiple outlets that the Ron Killings release was a shoot.
