We are sad to pass along the news (via Jim Ross’ Twitter account), that Jack Lanza, known to many wrestling fans as WWE Hall Of Famer Blackjack Lanza, has passed away at the age of 86.
Lanza was one-half of the legendary Blackjacks tag team with the late Blackjack Mulligan.
Lanza’s career started in the early 1960s and he wrestled for various promotions including the AWA before landing in the World Wide Wrestling Federation where he became a World Tag Team Champion with Mulligan.
Lanza retired in the mid-1980s and then worked behind-the-scenes for the WWF as a road agent and became one of Vince McMahon’s most trusted people backstage. He was inducted by longtime friend and manager Bobby Heenan into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2006.
We send our condolences to Lanza’s friends and family.
Just heard from old, Winnipeg friend Bob Holliday that Jack Lanza has passed away at the age of 86.
Jack was our lead agent during the Attitude Era.
Helluva hand. 🙏🤠
